Senior Scholarship

The Claudia Taylor Johnson High School Theatre Booster Club awards scholarships to Senior students of CTJ High School Theatre program who have demonstrated outstanding commitment and growth. This scholarship aims to assist them in their future pursuits following their graduation from CTJ High School. The monetary award is presented via check directly to the recipient during the banquet celebration in May.

Students are eligible for the scholarship if:

• The student has completed a minimum of (1) year of Theatre Productions at Johnson High School

• A member of the CTJ Thespian Troupe

• Applicant is an active and in good standing participant (including being up to date with Production and Troupe Day Fees) in the Theatre program​

Students who fulfill the eligibility criteria mentioned above are invited to submit a scholarship application. This application should include a one-page essay submitted by the designated deadline.

The CTJ Theatre Scholarship Committee evaluates and scores scholarship applications. A total of up to 100 points can be awarded across the following five categories:

1. Grade point average as reflected on the applicant’s transcript. (Maximum points: 5)

2. Hours must be recorded on the scholarship application and confirmed by a Theatre Director. Eligible hours include those accumulated during all grading periods of the freshman, sophomore, and junior years, as well as the first through third nine-week grading periods of the senior year. (Maximum points: 20)

3. Participation as a member of Johnson Theatre Program, as indicated on your scholarship application. (Maximum points: 20)

4. Leadership Positions Held (Maximum points: 15)

5. Short Answer Questions (Maximum points: 15)

6. Essay (Maximum points: 25)

 

The monetary amount and number of scholarships awarded vary from year to year as determined by the CTJ Theatre Booster budget and the Scholarship Committee.
